Previously, we explained the different types of CAD files and 2D drawings that are available to help you use Polycase enclosures for your next electronic design. There is a simple, 2 dimensional drawing available for each of the series of plastic enclosures manufactured by Polycase. That drawing is available on the series level page on our website. For instance the AG series drawing can be found on the AG-series page.
There is also a product or SKU-level engineering drawing representing individual enclosures in each series. These are available in PDF format on product level pages. For instance the AG-54 Plastic Enclosure with Window page offers a drawing specific to that case.
In addition to these basic but useful drawings, we offer 2D and 3D CAD files for use in your in engineering programs. There is an individual 2D and 3D CAD File representing each of the individual sizes of box in each series. Polycase's CAD files can be requested here by contacting customer service. To use our engineered enclosure drawings you must have AUTOCAD, SolidWorks, Pro-E or other DXF-compatible software.
Although we offer all the most frequently used file formats, (dxf, dwg, IGES and SolidWorks) we have found there to be several advantages of SolidWorks® 3D modeling software for electronic product designers. Electronic product designers frequently have a large amount of legacy data (data created from previous projects or jobs). This type of legacy data may form a starting point for new designs or can contribute key elements to the development process. SolidWorks' ability to store and retrieve that legacy data from old projects can be a huge time saver.
Once downloaded, Polycase enclosure drawings can be modified, and returned to us as an attachment to e-mail. This is ideal if you are looking for a quote on having one of our standard plastic cases turned into a customized box.
Remember, a modified CAD drawing isn't required to get a quote on customizing an enclosure - a simple hand drawn diagram can suffice - however, a cad drawing will expedite our ability to give you an accurate, fast cost estimate. In addition if you issue a purchase order using a modified drawing from our website, we will accept it as a "customer approved drawing" ready for manufacturing!
