As you may or may not be aware, I have a dog. I also have cats, which are so easy but less active. Cats are great because you don’t have let them outside. And living in Cleveland in the winter, really, no one should ever have to go outside. But with a dog, I don’t have much of a choice. And of course, every time I walk past the door, he’s sitting there patiently waiting to go outside. It’s not possible this dog has to go this often, he just wants to play. But from now until April, “outside” is on an as-needed basis only. And even then, I try to get him to make it quick: out, do your thing, back in, without letting too much of the frigid air, snow, and moisture into the house.
This got me thinking about clear covers on electronics cases. Customers have been known to place LED displays or other types of displays within plastic electronic enclosures that they would want their own customers to be able to see. Perhaps there are labels on switches or moving parts that need to be monitored. For this they would need clear covers so these items can be seen at a glance. That was pretty easy.
But another important, potentially less obvious, use of the clear covers is to protect the electronics. How? They allow employees to view the internal electronics, battery life indicators, or other such gauges inside the enclosure WITHOUT REMOVING THE LID.
This is extremely important with moisture sensitive electronics. Even in the most careful, dry conditions, each time you open an enclosure the opportunity to let moisture inside is very real. And that can be very damaging to your electronics.
Polycase sells an entire line of enclosures with clear covers. From small 2.52 x 2.28 inch boxes to roomy 10.4 x 7.28 inch, you are sure to find an enclosure that will fit correctly to protect your electronics. Some of our other series also have optional clear covers; contact your CSR for more information.
