Electronic Enclosures and Their Temperature Ranges

Operational temperature range, specifically on plastic enclosures, is a typical factor when selecting the right type of box for your project. Customers occasionally need an enclosure that can be exposed to extreme temperatures or even direct sunlight without distortion to the housing.

Polycase plastic enclosures are molded in either ABS plastic, polycarbonate plastic, or a polycarbonate blend. The temperature range on our ABS plastic enclosures is typically -17°C to 80°C and our ABS boxes should not be expose to UV rays from sunlight. Our polycarbonate and polycarbonate blend plastic has a typical range of -40°C to 120°C. These units have been designed for outdoor use which means they can tolerate UV exposure from direct sunlight.
