My first words after “I won?” were “Did you let me win?” Because really, we’ve been playing a couple games of chess a week for about 8 months now and I’ve lost every single one of them. Until this weekend. (Small cheer.) We than played Trivial Pursuit and he mopped the board with me but that’s ok … I won at chess. You know what this tells me? All the weeks of him teaching me the rules and pitfalls, pointing out better move choices, guiding me towards the strategy, might finally be starting to sink in. I’m learning. I love learning. You know what else I love to learn? How things work.
