NEMA Rated Plastic Housings: Baby New Year Brings Addition to the HD Family

February 16th, 2010

As our previous post detailed, our waterproof family got a little bigger by going smaller. Our experiences with the HD-45 taught us that we were doing right by designing enclosures to meet NEMA / IP ratings. That knowledge let us know it was time to add to the family.

Based on our experiences with HD-45 NEMA rated enclosures in the marketplace, you, our customers, have made the flanged HD enclosure series a great success. We asked you what else you’d like to see in this line. You said you wanted more sizes, and we’re meeting that need. That’s how we knew it was time to start smaller. At 5.5 x 3.5 x 1.62”, the HD-35’s slightly more compact enclosure size allows for 4 mounting bosses in each the base and case, a total of 8 bosses per enclosure.

The family traits you have come to expect from the HD series still remain: The sturdy black Polycarbonate enclosures are flame retardant and UV stabilization allows the HD-35 to retain its mechanical properties, even in direct sunlight. Our silicone gasket continues to help seal away moisture, and stainless steel screws keep rust at bay.

The HD-35 enclosure was also designed to meet NEMA 4X / IP66 ratings for outdoor or indoor use, especially when protection is required against harmful effects from the ingress of water (including rain, sleet, snow, splashing or even hose-directed water). It also provides a level of protection against corrosion.

Polycase will continue to expand and grow our product families for all waterproof electronic enclosures, with input from our customers. What are you looking for in a gasketed enclosure?
